Title

An overview of my work on hardware systems

Abstract

n this talk, I will discuss important highlights of my research in the domain of hardware systems. The presentation will first focus on ongoing work for High-Performance Computing (HPC) with FPGAs that aims to deliver an open-source library of hardware-accelerated kernels for algebraic calculations. Another important area is the adoption of disaggregated computing on datacenters, aiming to improve resource utilization, as well as reduce their global energy footprint. Finally, I will discuss my work on programming models, high-speed interconnection, and software fault tolerance for embedded reconfigurable systems.

About the speaker

Dr. Dimitris Theodoropoulos obtained his Diploma (5-year degree) and M.Sc degree respectively in 2003 and 2006 from the Electronic and Computer Engineering department at the Technical University of Crete, Greece. In 2007, he joined the Computer Engineering department of the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, where he worked towards his PhD. From 2011, he has collaborated as an affiliated post-doc researcher with the Telecommunication Systems Research Institute at the Technical University of Crete, Greece, the Computer Architecture and VLSI Systems group at FORTH in Crete, Greece, and the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems at the NTUA, Athens Greece, where has been involved at technical and management level of many H2020 and FP7 research projects. His current research interests include: embedded systems, IoT / cloud computing and reconfigurable computing.
