Dear friend,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the web pages of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the Technical University of Crete (TUC), and we wish you a pleasant navigation through these pages. Our Department is the second of its kind that was founded in Greece to cover the needs of the country’s industry with engineers having studies and know-how in Computer Engineering. The ECE Department received its first undergraduate and graduate students in 1990.
The specialization of the ECE Department has a broad range of activities today as well. The Department’s graduate students work in all aspects of design and production in industry, government consulting firms, agencies to foster high technology growth, and as consultants on topics including the design and development of Information Systems, Telecommunications and Electronics Systems, and Automatic Control Systems. In all these areas our graduates serve at all ranks, including mid- and high-level management.
The ECE curriculum includes courses in mathematics and physics, humanities, computer science, electronics, control systems, and telecommunications. The Department has four Divisions (Electronics and Computer Architecture, Computer Science, Control Systems, and Telecommunications), and ten state-recognized Laboratories in which students receive hands-on training in their undergraduate courses, and in which basic and applied research is performed as well. The Department offers a five-year undergraduate program which results into the Engineer’s Diploma degree, and graduate programs of specialization (MS) and doctorate (PhD).
These web pages were developed with the aim to become a means of information dissemination and a means for communication among the members of the Department, its students, faculty and staff. It also aims at the opening of the Department to the Greek society for the information of prospective students and to the international community as a means to better communicate with those interested in the Department. Thus, one can find in our web pages information about the Department faculty, the Department staff, the Undergraduate and Graduate curricula, the research projects, etc.
In conclusion we would like to encourage you to feel free to communicate with us in case you need further information, but also in order to provide us with feedback and suggestions for improvements of these web pages.
